About
The Wedding Banquet (2025), written and directed by Andrew Ahn, is a joyful look into queer family and a somber recognition of how hard it can be to keep these things safe in the world we live in. About the film: Frustrated with his commitment-phobic boyfriend Chris and running out of time, Min makes a proposal: a green-card marriage with their friend Angela in exchange for her partner Lee’s expensive IVF. Elopement plans are upended, however, when Min’s grandmother surprises them with an extravagant Korean wedding banquet. Please note the film is rated R and parental supervision is advised for guests under 17. The screening will be followed by a short conversation with director Andrew Ahn. $5 General, FREE for JANM Members COMP CODE: NOTAFLOF The Wedding Banquet (Everything in This House is Gay (And Asian): Contemporary Queer History Through Cinema) is organized by Japanese American National Museum as part of the 2026 Circa: Queer Histories Festival, presented by One Institute The mission of the Japanese American National Museum is to promote understanding and appreciation of America’s ethnic and cultural diversity by sharing the Japanese American experience.
